Lawyer who headed Missouri Department of Revenue’s legal department faces child enticement charge

A lawyer who worked in Missouri state government for two decades, most recently as the top legal counsel for the Missouri Department of Revenue, was arrested in an apparent child enticement sting operation.
KOMU 8 News reports that Daniel Follett, 56, of Columbia, Missouri, was charged with one count of child enticement following his arrest Tuesday, according to court documents.
Follett allegedly attempted to meet a person he talked with online who he thought was 16 years old, according to a probable cause statement. He went to a predetermined location at 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to the statement.
A spokesperson for the Missouri Department of Revenue said Follett, who was the top legal counsel for the department, has had his employment terminated. KOMU 8 News reached out to Follett’s attorney for comment and has not received a response.
