McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter has settled a gender bias suit filed by a fired associate who claimed the male associates got better work assignments and better bonuses than females.

U.S. District Judge Lorna Schofield said the case had settled when she ordered its dismissal Tuesday, the New Jersey Law Journal (sub. req.) reports.

The plaintiff, Elina Chechelnitsky, claimed male associates were able to earn bigger bonuses because they got better work assignments than females, who were given more nonbillable work that didn’t count toward quotas. She also alleged the firm sponsored male-only golf retreats.

The suit also claimed that female lawyers had to sign releases before they could associate with male lawyers outside of work.
