Morgan, Lewis & Bockius has hired a top energy lawyer in London and is seeking to expand its overseas nuclear practice.

Morgan Lewis hired Susan Quint, formerly a top lawyer for a state-owned nuclear energy services company, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The firm’s nuclear practice has 32 lawyers, and it hopes to grow the practice by 20 percent with clients in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

According to the Inquirer, “Morgan Lewis is a dominant player in the nuclear-regulatory area in the United States, representing two-thirds of the current applicants for new reactors, some 20 proposed facilities in all.” Its U.S. growth is limited, in part because of client conflicts.

Practice leader Jay Gutierrez told the newspaper that world leaders are seeking to reduce greenhouse gases, and nuclear power will have to be an option for them to achieve their goals.
