What was supposed to be a quiet vacation for actor Justin Bieber in the Canadian community in which he grew up has resulted in new trouble for the popular singer.

Bieber, 20, was released on his own recognizance after being charged in a Friday traffic accident and subsequent altercation in his hometown of Stratford, according to CNN and People.

An Ontario Provincial Police spokesman said Bieber’s ATV collided with a minivan. He faces charges of dangerous driving and assault.

His lawyer, Brian H. Greenspan, told People that the incident resulted from paparazzi chasing Bieber as they tried to photograph him.

An assault case in Toronto, in which Bieber is accused of physically attacking a limousine driver, is still pending.
