A Northeast regional law firm headquartered in Buffalo, N.Y., is opening a new office in London.

Goldberg Segalla announced today that the new outpost will be operating as of April, according to Buffalo Business First.

Clive O’Connell, who previously served as chief of the commercial risk and reinsurance department at Barlow Lyde & Gilbert, will head the Goldberg firm’s new office

Goldberg Segalla managing parnter Richard Cohen says the firm has a large insurance and reinsurance practice, as well as a number of clients in London and Bermuda.

“The way our firm has expanded has been on a very organic basis,” he told Buffalo Business First. “This wasn’t so much a function of needing to be in London right now as it was an opportunity to build a London office around the right person.”

The firm focuses its practice on civil litigation for business in a culture that encourages team collaboration, the Goldberg Segalla website explains. It has more than 130 lawyers in 10 offices in New York , Philadelphia and Princeton, N.J.
