Charges have been dropped against two Dutch women who had been accused of orchestrating a marketing campaign in which they and 34 other women wore to a World Cup soccer game short orange dresses provided by a beer maker in the Dutch national team’s trademark color.

Barbara Castelein and Mirte Nieuwpoort had been out on bail before their release today, reports the Wall Street Journal (sub. req.).

The charges were withdrawn after the FIFA soccer federation reached a confidential agreement with Bavaria NV, the beer-maker, a National Prosecuting Authority spokesman told the newspaper. Prosecutors used their discretion in determining not to proceed with the case, he said.
