U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. was hospitalized for one night last month after he fell at a Maryland country club.

Roberts was hospitalized June 21 for an injury to his forehead that required sutures, report the Washington Post and CNN.

Roberts was kept overnight in the hospital “out of an abundance of caution,” according to a statement by Supreme Court spokeswoman Kathleen Arberg.

Roberts was walking for exercise when he fell.

Although Roberts has had two seizures, in 1993 and 2007, doctors think Roberts likely fell because he was dehydrated, Arberg said.

The court confirmed the hospitalization after a tipster told the Washington Post about the incident and said Roberts’ head was covered in blood after the fall.
