The lawyer for the Army psychiatrist accused of killing 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, last November has started a blog to share thoughts and protests about the military’s handling of the high-profile prosecution.

CNN reports that civilian lawyer John Galligan started the blog, Fort Hood Attorney, in response to a partial gag order in the case against Maj. Nidal Hasan.

Galligan, a retired Army colonel, has been critical of the military’s handling of the Hasan case and maintains the Army is operating under a set of double standards. He noted that there is no similar gag order for prosecutors in the case.

Galligan has long sought what he considers routine evidence against Hasan. Yet, when the evidence starting coming to him late last week, it came with an order prohibiting Galligan from inadvertently or purposefully “divulging, publishing or revealing, either by word or conduct” information from the evidence, according to the blog.

“Needless to say, Army prosecutors have had access to this same information for the past several months. The belated disclosure to the defense and the accompanying ‘gag order’ is evidence that the pretrial discovery process is not being conducted on an even playing field,” Galligan complains in a blog post.
