Add another well-known name to a small but growing list of jilted would-be spouses filing suit to recoup alleged financial losses as a result of derailed wedding plans.

Wide receiver Roy Williams of the Dallas Cowboys says in an affidavit that former Miss Texas USA Brooke Daniels rejected the recorded marriage proposal he sent her by mail just before Valentine’s Day, but kept the $76,000 ring he sent with it, reports the Odessa American.

Now he is suing his ex-girlfriend in state district court in Ector County, seeking the return of the ring. Under Texas law, the article says, an engagement ring is a conditional gift that must be returned unless the donor was at fault in breaking the engagement.
