Employment-related litigation is surging in Washington, where employers are getting slapped with lawsuits over policies that forbid workers from having a second job.
At least 258 labor and employment suits were filed in July in state and federal court in Washington, continuing an increasing trend in the past year, according to a story by Law.com.
Suits challenging anti-moonlighting policies are increasingly prevalent, along with litigation focused on allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, sexual assault or wage-and-hour violations.
In June, 216 suits were filed, and in May, 155 suits were filed. But last year, the trend was closer to about 100 employment-related suits filed per month, according to Law.com.
