Blank Rome is facing two proposed class action lawsuits over a data breach that exposed personal information of more than 57,000 current, former and prospective clients, according to Bloomberg Law.
Two people alleged in the separate suits filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania that the breach exposed information including names, Social Security numbers, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, birthdates and more, Bloomberg Law reported.
Blank Rome said in a statement the breach happened when a cybercriminal posing as the law firm’s IT department tricked an attorney into uploading files to an external website in May.
“We believe the lawsuit has no merit and will aggressively defend against it,” the firm said.
