A Texas judge was publicly admonished last week for requiring that parents in a family law custody dispute receive the COVID-19 vaccination or produce a negative test 72 hours before the father visited his children.

The Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct also admonished Judge Travis Kitchens Jr. of the 258th District Court in Texas in a separate incident involving plea requirements, according to a story by the Texas Scorecard.

The commission was addressing a case from May 2021 in which Kitchens learned that the mother and children were under quarantine from having been exposed to COVID-19 by the mother’s boyfriend. Kitchens delayed the date of the father’s visitation until both parents received the COVID-19 vaccine or obtained negative test results.
